Here is a weld positioner I came up with after getting frustrated
trying to get the pieces in the right position for welding.
It is made from 1 inch thick stainless and has 2 pivot points at 90
degrees apart so the part can be angled to the right position.
The part holder is able to rotate 360 degrees to make all sides
accessable.
I used 1" sch 40 pipe for the clamp and got a cam clamp from Reid
Tool to make the clamping action a lot quicker.
The part holder is made from a piece of 3/4" sch 40 pipe which
makes it easy to make extra tooling.
The sculpture is 12" in diameter and is made from stainless spoons.
It has a 1/2-13 nut welded inside to connect to the matching stud
in the tool holder.

That's really pretty clever! Reminds me of my "helping hands" soldering and model building thingy I got from harbor freight. I may have to build one similar to what you've made to help me on some projects

Nice work!Dynasty 200DX

ok - here is a 20" diameter sculpture made from spoons.
Used up a 336 cu ft tank of argon to do the welds.
Tigged it at 25 amps DC using .035" 308ss wire.
It has a 1/2-13 stainless nut welded inside to hold it to the stand. Makes it easier to take apart for moving.
After seeing this, my friends now say they will get a metal detector to check me after they serve dinner. I guess it's better than making me eat with my hands.
