sorry for getting off track. i really just wanted to put a finish to the vice repair, letting all know its repaired.

some charcoal
a card board box full of kitty litter
a $13 pack of Nomacast 1/8"
a TA-185
and all is good to go.
so i add myself to the list who say if you break your vise and have the option, give it a try. after all you got very little to lose and every thing to gain. i really su ck at stick so if i can do it anyone can.![]()

I would weld it with 7018 and take a chipping hammer between welds tap it all over to releave stress on the cast. I call it ping the metal. Had a lot of good luck with this. If it want weld with 7018 than it not cast steel and the vise is not good material for a vice anyways. Ni rods are not good for stress parts like vices. good luck.
