    Default OT Hawk update

Got back this afternoon and checked the nest. We have at least one chick.

Nice picture on the welding bench. Looks like you have some prime land there. Any deer in the area ? I'm thinking of putting a salt lick out back for ours. Wish we had hawks close by, I see them around here, just not close to home.

Nick - Let it go. It's just not worth it. I for one am enjoying your post as I have a couple of red shouldered hawks (red tails first cousin) that visit my house about once a day. We have a lot of squirrels around. Not as many as before, though. So I can relate to your joy at seeing some of nature's wonders.

To satisfy all, when I weld or work outside my shop I see them either circling overhead, perched on nearby trees, or my fence. Since I'm a lifelong nature lover, I consider it a real treat when they visit.

Keep up the interesting posts Nick.

    Default what gives

I dont post much, but i read these threads enough to know that if a "newbe" were to ask a question like monte asked, he would have been loaded up with responses stating that he was lazy or should have done a search before hand (off topic thread or not)..I am not trying to imply that we/you should start calling monte lazy, but why the rudeness toward the newbe and all's fine to the regular? (other than the little spat in this post)

    Default Mom and Baby Hawk

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN3mrktYpy8

Here is Mom and Baby. Keep close eye about 45 sec into the video to the right of Mom in the nest, baby poppin up. You will see the little head with light colored fuzz and dark eyes.
The tree is quite far away from from the camera and the optical zoom was on max at 25x.
It was windy as you can see. Camera was on a tripod.

I totally agree with you. I think anyone should be able to ask any question at any time and not be crucified. If they don't like the question, then pass it up.
But you will see that is just not the case here. Set your watch.........it's coming..................Nick
