summer is here, plant a tree. if you don't have space or time to plant one sponsor some one else to plant one for you. a tree is an investment in our planet, help it out.

Tool boards only work for those who have wall space and few tools.
I have no wall space, several rolling toolboxes and tools in many locations.
This is also good for exercise, when you walk back and forth trying to find your tools.
Mostly, I walk in the shop looking for a tool, forget what I was looking for and repeat. This gives me twice the exercise.
I gave up on small toolboxes yeaers ago, because by the time I have one full, it is too heavy to carry.Millermatic 211 AutoSet w/MVP

thats so me its scary, you been stalking me.
how do you know me so well.
you get my problem to a T, except i don't have any huge tool boxes.
i just have a small 6 drawer craftsmen box. about W=29" X T=24" X D=12", this dose not fit much. most of the time i collect up my tools i need as I'm working( see above statement in blue) and when done i throw them all into a little shopping basket to take them back to where they came from, if i can remember where they came from.
i just thought there must be some quick easy way to keep the set together .
wishful thinking i suppose.thanks for the help

I've found that most of those cool looking plastic organizers
that tool sets come in, or you can buy independently, either
1 take up way too much space for the amount of tools that
they store or
2 always seem to fall a bit short of what I'd like -- they may
not hold exactly what I want, or be a bit too small or too big
or shaped wrong or have one too many or one too few ...
so I usually just pile things up in the drawers, but try to
keep the pile in any one drawer to a workable level. about
the only tool organizers that I like are those sticks with the
springy clips on them that Sears sells for sockets.
I use carryable tool boxes and bags just for carrying tools needed for
a specific task from the basement to the task. My favorite so far
is a heavy nylon cloth tote bag that came with my cordless drill,
usually I can put all the hand tools I'm likely to need for something
in the bag.
I agree about the peg boards -- way too much space for way too
few tools... But a recent thought I had was to use a pegboard as
a temporary parking lot for the tools I'm using to do something. Instead
of laying the tool down on the bench (and getting it buried under stuff)
I can hang them on the pegboard. Once the task is done, the tools
would go back in their drawers. But this may require more organization
and discipline than I am usually capable of

I use my old Makita cordless drill box to carry my drill, stud finder and many small tools-I leave the charger out.
I also buy riggers canvas bags from Harbor Freight and break my tools into categories. Riveters-Fencing-Drills-Glue guns-Staplers, Electrical etc.
This makes them light enough to carry and I grab whatever bag I need, for the job that I'm going to do. Sounds good in theory.
I have around 10 of these bags with tools in them, I just wish the tools would find their way back to the bags.

Sorry but I've been trying to find the mythical "hammer space" from japanese animations (that area where the small female character suddenly produces a giant freaking hammer from...hence the name) But so far no luck...and thus need for a tool box.
If you were to hang their wrench organizers on your peg board maybe? Or something similar?

This is going to sound kind of hokey, but what the heck....
i saw a guy a while back that had used the hard pink Styrofoam insulation to make his own organizers. he cut a piece the size of a drawer, laid his tools on it and traced them, then just cut an indentation using a utility knife and a cheapo soldering iron.
Like I said, hokey sounding, but it ended up looking alright, worked great and was cheap as all get out.
This is what I'm using for wrenches in mine. It only qualifies as just OK. I would replace it with almost anything if I thought it was better. Sadly, nothing seems better.

Hello,
Perhaps you could build / buy a more efficient tool box like this one.
