    Default Radnor Welding

What is radnor?? I know it's a brand, but i can't find it on line (parent co) where is there stuff made? I see it sold in a few places, especially IOC.

Any opinions? I avoid buying stuff made in china, but sometimes do.

Radnor is a city in PA where Airgas is located. Radnor is also Airgas house brand of welding consumables/parts.

Some Radnor consumables are made by Lincoln.

Lincoln owns Harris now. The Radnor wire I almost bought was indeed Harris (according to the sales rep).

Radnor is all outsourced, but I don't think it's limited to one supplier (again, according to the Airgas rep). Generally speaking, I think they use pretty reputable brands.

Jim, by outsourced do you mean re-badged? or chinese? Napa rebadges all their parts but i always felt i got the best of the best dealing with them. That would explain the extensive radnor catalog.

Not much Chinese but who knows in the future. I use a bunch of Radnor stuff but I always compare. Their tig consumables are not to shabby either...I have loads of them.
As for Napa...I owned a auto parts store for years and my wife still manages it...I KNOW parts. napa varies as well. I have found that only their most expensive stuff is anything to write home about which is really no different that any decent parts distributor. Once you are familiar with certain mfgs then you recognize the exact some stuff in the napa boxes. They just cost more.
I almost went with napa's program and am very glad I didn't. It is very hard to make money in that biz. They make it even harder, sorta like Snap-On does their dealers. Other than helping out some poor independent guy you are certainly not usually getting any better parts. They love China too.

There are very distinct differences in Lincoln and Harris wire. They have not combined the brands. The .045 Radnor I have is plain old Lincoln ER70S-6 wire. It is not bad stuff at all.

One thing I learned a long time ago is NEVER listen to an Airgas counter type. They have no clue what is what.

Just curious but how did you find out who made your radnor wire if not thru an Airgas counter type??
