Working pressures

What is the max working pressures in PSI after the bottles of an Oxy/Acetelene system say for cutting or preheat applications.

Having Reels built and manufacturer needs to know

acetylene is a no-no over 15 PSI. Oxygen i've heard but never used 40+ psi for big cutting torches. i usually need 15-20psi for the limited cutting i do.

Yep. Acetylene redlines at 15 PSI, but obviously the gear will be built to take more than that. No redline on oxygen, but 100 PSI should do about ANYTHING; as mentioned, most of my stuff is also less than 25 PSI.

I would say they need to be designed for 100 working # at least and for sure on the O2.

Well I've told the manufacture 100psi, it's not the reel itself rather the coupler swivels. They wanted to know whether or not they could go brass instead of the usual steel fittings and pressures

brass would be the better material as it's non sparking and should easily handle the working pressures you're talking about. We use brass swivels in our carwash equipment all the time and those see 1500PSI, day in, day out.

as for the pressures I run.... if it's something heavy, like lopping off the end of a W24X162 beam, I'll be running 10PSI acetylene and 80 or so PSI oxygen with a #6 tip. at it's thickest point, a W24X162 is about 2" thick at the web to flange radius....
