I have a 4 foot box and pan, 16 gauge brake. I need a way to load it into my pickup truck by myself. I was thinking of something like an ambulance gurney: it could be rolled up to the truck and a set of wheels would roll up onto the tailgate. You would then lift the other end using wheelbarrow-type handles, taking the weight off of the undercarriage, which would then compact up wards, and then just roll the brake forward into the truck.
I've been looking at tool stands and haven't seen anything that I would want to copy or adapt.
Any ideas?

Your gurney idea sounds like a good one you just don't need the front leg to buckle under on the way to the truck...Bob

Why not make a little trailer for it? Or make removable running gear that attaches to it.

Hitch Receiver Lift
Make a truck receiver hitch that would be custom to your application.
An Idea for what it looks like would be in the following links. There are several other links where I have seen hydraulics being used.

The part you leave out is I am assuming is once you get to your location you want to unload it in a similar fashion and roll it over to where ever you need to bend metal. Be it inside or whatever. Maybe a heavy duty steel gurney style cart would work for many things as well.
