Evolution Cold saw

I purchased my Evolution saw from TrickTools.com 2 years ago. They had great pricing, Free Delivery, and no sales tax. I recieved it in less than a week. It has been a great saw and I have had no problems with it.

That's because -- like a true amateur -- I tried running cold-cut blades on my 10-inch miter saw, and wasted an expensive blade pretty quickly.

But hopefully others can benefit from my mistakes.

After that, I found a Milwaukee 6190-20 14" cold saw on ebay for $279 (with no blade) and have been using the (~$40) Freud Diablo blades with it since then.

Many hundreds of cuts, and I'm still on my first blade.

Totally thanks to this thread, I was looking to replace my 19 year old Black and Decker chop saw...
I just took posession of the Milwakee 6190-20 and I very am pleased!
E-bay the only way! No tax- no shipping.
Handed down the old chop saw to a friend.
He will need to replace a dry rotted cord and some brushes.
The new saw doesn't throw flamable sparks, but only chunks of cut material.
Seems to cut steel like butter.

My local Airgas has the Steelmax saw on display. I looked at it and saw the 'made in china' label and lost all interest in it.

If you don't mind my asking what did your Airgas dealer sell you your Rage 3 for? I got a quote today on one and wanted to see if it is in line with what you paid or if they're too high.

I got my Rage 3 today and all I can say is I'm glad I didn't buy an abrasive wheel saw!!! It works great and can't believe the clean cuts on both steel and aluminum. My local Airgas dealer didn't know anything about the Evolution product line till I inquired and then had to have Evolution contact him. He's thinking of stocking their saws now, as he was as impressed as I was with the quality of cut with the saw.

I paid 272.00 for mine. So that's close I guess it depends on how close you are to Iowa where they are shipped from. Perhaps your welding supplier got a better shipping rate. I had mine within 2 or 3 days of ordering though.

Sorry I didn't see your post untill today. I paid about $300 with tax for my Rage 3 at Airgas.

My Rage 1 was about $150 at Airgas.

Yeah they're all close in price. Did you notice their magnetic drills and annular cutter machines? I don't knokw what Hougen's price on a model capable of 2 3/8 on 2" steel would be but I'll bet it's a lot higher than the 1,200.00 that Evolution is priced at. I know you can't get a Milwaukee mag drill for 475.00 either and now the Milwaukee is built overseas now too.
