These are gates, a kinetic sculpture and a "handstand kid" sculpture with fused glass legs (I think that's what I put in).

those are really cool. i like the cut outs and how u put stuff over the expanded metal. now ive got to get a plasma cutter .

Very nice work inventive interesting the eye really flows through the scene. I can imagine people stopping for a while to admire the work tactilely and visually before proceeding through the gate.

The material looks to be mild steel? How did you achieve the patina?

Please if you have more work to share I would enjoy looking.

i resized your pic's to a smaller kb. size to help out the other dial up guys like me. its a real bummer waiting on the pic's to load so this way more will take the time to see them all, and can do it faster. hope ya dont mind. and thanks for shareing them with us.

for the comments. Let me answer your questions:
No, I didn't know about if you post to an old post... also, no I don't mind that you resized the pics - I have no clue how to do that.
On the gate, if I remember correctly the frame was 1 1/2 in. sq. tube and the panels were 16 ga. sheet. After making the gates, I wash with oil eater and rinse and dry; spray with hydrogen peroxide and rinse and dry; spray on the patina autumn rust (I buy from King Architect.) and rinse and keep wetting several times over a couple of days. Let dry completely, then I spritz with rust-o-leum textured autumn brown to blend away the orange from the rust. I don't usually put on a clear coat cuz I tell clients to just let it go natural; the paint will wear off and the rust will become a deeper brown.
The other gate with the expanded metals was a project in process.
I do all my cutting free hand with a plasma cutter (best tool in the world)-in fact, I'm on my third one in 18 years.

I'll add a few more photos: the "giraffe" gate is 11 feet wide by 7 feet tall and was done for a glass artist on Mulholland Drive in Ca., fireplace screens and some more gates, and a fused-glass faced Kachina.

The acid test is whether I would show it to my wife. Those I won't ('cause she'd tell me to make some like that for her -- I don't have that artistic talent).

are u running a microsoft os-office,xp,2000 ect. if u are just open ur pic in paint, hold down the control key(ctrl) while u press w and it will pull up a screen to resize ur image. hope this helps if ya need more help let us know
