    Smile Web Page Resources

For books, I prefer Web Design Garage, or the O'Reilly book on HTML or Web Design available at your local book store or at Amazon.com...see link below for the Garage book:
    http://www.amazon.com/Web-Design-Gar...2871361&sr=1-1

Here are some other links I've found interesting:
http://www.openwebdesign.org/ (open source info for diy Web-page creators)
http://www.normankoren.com/webpages.html (not fancy, but gives some good instruction)
http://www.lissaexplains.com/ (HTML help for kids, but an easy tutorial for adults to learn as well!)

As for sites to host your page, I've been eyeing up Yahoo http://geocities.yahoo.com/gcp/ or Google interests me too.

I'm not fond of myspace as far as having your own "page". Its interface is so clunky, I can't believe it's the #1 networking Web site. I've seen people who have xanga sites as well...they just seem rather "canned", there's not a lot of latitude for choosing what you'd like design-wise. These sites are nice though if you're interested in networking within the community that's available to you by creating a page there.

    My 2 cents!

I have one on Geocities ( http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Lagoon/1075/ ) and one on Tripod as well ... PSEND is better and less expensive to clear away the clutter ..

I use freeservers.com . They have templates in which you can just fill in the blanks, or you can upload your site pages created by web authoring software.

Here is my template site: www.bradyassoc.8m.com . It costs $24/yr to keep off the popup ads.

Here is the homemade site: www.powdercoatoven.4t.com . Clearly, my web design skills are somewhat lacking, but it was fun to do. This one's free, but has the popup ads, which are not much of an issue with the more modern browsers.

    Can't beat the price.
