I'm hoping to make a cannister that engulfs the gears but it might be a bit of a chore. The original heli had the gears exposed but since enclosed them. If
not they won't last. If not oil maybe a light grease.

I imagine the canister could be as simple as a free floating tube with a lipped seal at each end and two threaded holes in the side. One to add oil and one for an overflow full marker.
To all who contribute to this board.
My sincere thanks , Pete.

The problem is the top and the bottom are rotating in opposite directions.
Making a seal will be tough. Maybe make 2 pieces(cans) the bottom can attatched and sealed to the bottom rotor top plate and a top can that would just fit into the bottom. Keeping oil in will be difficult. If you have more
ideas, let me know.

New pictures of my progress on Helicopter project Part 2
More pictures. The engine, being used, is a modified (not by me) 440 Kawasaki water cooled Jetski engine. This thing had better fly or it will be one He!! of a blender.

What size chain is that? Also, did you buy or make the large sprocket for it?

I'm not sure of the size. There are markings on it though. I got both sprockets and the chain off ebay. They go on a 900 CBR motorcycle for stunt use.

very cool.
i thought a motor had to be aviation approved ??? also wont the water cooling be too much wait?? seems like an air cooled versing modified would be lighter giving a better lift to wait ??
looking forward to seeing the finished product.
thanks for the help
......or..........
hope i helped
feel free to shoot me an e-mail direct i have time to chat.

Monte, Nice work!
I have one concern though, i don't think you have enough chain wrap on the smaller sproket. They are usually further away (on motorcycles) and the chain covers more of the circumference. In the picture it looks like you will pop the chain or rip teeth off. If it were my behind i would look at some idlers and a guide.Dynasty 200 DX

Very intriguing project, Nick. I assume that engine has an enclosed water cooled system? I so, do you have a radiator for it, yet? If it's not enclosed, you'll need a long intake hose when you fly around over the lake.
