I forgot to put that 'lock box' on the material list, sorry. You can find one of those at a steel supply house.

The Door
Very nice! I can't believe how cheap all the fence parts are. Like the spear ends are about 50 cents. Home owners love to pay welders for custom stuff!

Nice work. I do quite a few security doors, as I don't think the ones from HD are worth very much. I don't like using the wire mesh though and try to use screen instead. I have been playing around with designs that don't use the lock box so I don't have to split the screens into three pieces.

Do compressor house doors count?
I made this for my compressor shed. I used hardware cloth for the screen. It's held on by 1/2 strap and screws. To mount the door I welded tabs to the frame and bolted it thru the inner wood frame.
What are you guys paying for 1 x 1 16 ga tube? 3 20' are 48 bucks around here.Frank

Frank, I haven't purchased any steel pipe or square tubing lately, but that sounds about right.

No SS just mild steel. I do pay a bit more for cold rolled or P&O instead of hot rolled when it is going to be sanded, colored and clear coated though, it saves the grease in my elbows.
