Okay this is my first post and hopefully I won't get flamed because it's probably a stupid question, but here goes... I have 1/8" 6061 Aluminum that I've cut into practice coupons to try out the spoolmate I just bought and I was wondering if I have the correct wire. What would the correct wire be?

I second 4043 wire. .030 will work. I will come out alot faster then the regular M10 gun. Do as much research as possible. Use 100% Argon for your shielding gas. You can not use 75%CO2 25% argon; it will not work so don't waste your time or materials. 10-15 degree angle and push not pull. It's pretty easy after you mess a couple up. The Settings inside the welder are pretty close too.

At my work, in an auto body collision repair shop, my assigned welder is a millermatic 210 with that spool gun option. we modified the welder(cart) to hold two bottles of gas. 100% argon and the standard mig weld mix, side by side.
The machine is smart enough to determine which gun that the triger is being pulled on, but it is up to the operator to open the correct bottle.
Yes I use the 4043 wire as well.
And push, not pull the bead.
On a plug weld on thin metal,
You start the bead outside the hole and move inside the hole and work your way back out of the hole before letting off the trigger.
Or.. at least that was the way I was taught.
