Once upon a time I managed a maintenance shop and I got pretty adept at creating my own forms in XL. I wrote a lot of safety programs for them.
You can do a lot with XL if you just take the time to learn it

And here's a tip too don't line item a bunch of stuff it turns into an accounting nightmare.
When we quote something it's materials and labor and equipment. thats it.
Materials= what they cost you plus about 35% mark up more on some stuff less on others you get a feel for it.
Labor= A good hourly rate that covers your time and all associated expenses i.e. truck, fuel, drive time.
Equipment= Figure out and charge an hourly rate for all your equipment i.e. welder, scissor lift, fork lift, what ever.
It is much easier to do the taxes at the end of the year when you can list your expenses this way.
If you get into line itemizing every piece of sand paper you'll spend more time on paper work and less time working and less money made per hour.Last edited by kcstott; 04-12-2008 at 06:33 PM.
