Default .030 flux core or .035 hard wire

I purchased a dump truck last month. The truck has a pintle and my 12,000 lb trailer has a ball hitch. I am going to cut the hitch on my trailer off and install a pintle hook. The fabrication is going to be pretty straight forward. Will I get better penetration with .030 flux or .035 hard wire on my Passport Plus? Trailer tongue is 3/8. Thanks....

    Default wire size

.035 for sure. But on 3/8 you could run .030 hard wire as well. And remember if you have to weld vertical reduce you heat setting from what you would run a flat weld at 10-15% less for vertical up. Good luck.....

I'd run .030 hard wire. Much better arc density. Deposition rate ain't the issue here - it's penetration and fusion!
