Why couldnt there be a spool gun made for a TIG machine?
It has the power to do the job. It would sure be great to "swap cables"
and go into MIG mode, as I do for SMAW. But with the capability of making a fast aluminum joint when the job doesn't require the finesse of TIG.

I know that Miller makes a wire feeder that is compatible with my Syncro....but thats another $1200 or so.

Sure would be nice.

P.S. You know I did adapt the Border Patrol's handheld radio (Motorola xts3000) to our (MS National Guard) helicopter ICS/Radio system, when we found out that our Global Wulfsberg radio system wouldn't work...........It only took me a week........wonder how long it would take me to make a Syncro 200 spool gun???

Heck that is exactly what my WC-115-A is designed to do! I never use it for that tho. And by the time you buy the unit and spoolgun you could have a pretty nice shop mig.
Times are changing. I doubt you will ever see miller make a CC/CV small shop machine because they are trully 2 completely different machines.

There are plenty of feeders on the market from all of the major manufacturers that will work fine on a CC machine. They are 'voltage sensing', in that the wire speed is controlled by sensing the arc voltage, and adjusting the speed to maintain the voltage at the desired value.

Not cheap, though. Unless you really need the feature (such as in portable work with a CC only engine drive), a dedicated wire feed machine in the same price range is likely easier to use, and have more features.

sure it's possible to engineer a welder that switches mig/tig seamlessly with various guns, but where's the market for such an (expensive) machine? who's going to pay the premium for all-in-one, when you can just buy two machines, and then have two workstations that you don't have to swap guns/torches?

best thing to do would be go pick up a new MM212 to go with your Syncro 200 . will make a good reliable set of welders, add the spool gun to the MM212 if ya want and you will be well setup.

The AEC-200 from these people will work with CC or CV with their special box. So you still may be in luck...Bob

My whole thing was ,

having a mildly capable MIG feature on a nice machine like mine.
I'll probablly just buy a MM series to top off my Syncro............ Now that I am changing jobs, with almost double the pay. Oh yeah and one of those nice Miller Plasma boxes too.

just talked to the guy over at the local Red e arc and he's telling me you won't like how a CC welder and a voltage sensing wire feeder work. I quote "it's only used on thick sections because it requires a lot of heat to make it forgiving"
I guess the voltage sensing aspect of it makes it a bit troublesome at lower amperage settings.
And it is typically used with flux core only, they will work with solid wire but are even more problematic at lower settings
So I guess it's a MM252 or I could pick up on of the lease returns they have. They got five MM251's and are only looking to get $1300 each.
