I usually wait till I see a drop in the flowmeter reading. You have to keep an eye on it when they get this low, otherwise you are going to get stuck with swiss cheese welds.

What Bert's saying about SCUBA tanks is very true. You always wanted to leave "a little" pressure in the tank to prevent moisture infiltration. In fact, we used to "crack" each tank to insure it had pressure. If not, it required a VIP (visual inspection procedure) to insure that the tank did not contain water, prior to being refilled. Then again, a scuba tank fill was about $2.00 at that time.

I've never had my LWS check the tanks I brought in for pressure.

All you guys mad about what you pay for the price of Argon, this is what we pay here (just called the LWS) JUST FOR GAS ALONE!

This is what we pay to live in paradise. If we don't like it, yeah, we could leave. We just deal with it. It's been around 85 degrees the past 30 days, winds 10-15mph.

I understand your question has been answered many times over, but thought I'd just add my recent Ar refill to the list. Three weeks ago I exchanged my "K" size cylinder that was still in hydro (248 cu.ft. @2250psi) at the local P*****r here in San Diego. I paid $82.01 for the gas, $6.95 for the haz.fee, $0.54 for something called "demand charge cylinders" and $6.94 for sales tax. Out-the-door it was $96.44. Yikes! The out-the-door price is up 57% in two years (there didn't used to be a haz. fee or a demand charge cyl. fee). And, that price reflected a 10% discount on the gas!!!

My argon price sorta varies according to the computer ability of the counterperson...Airgas has some really stupid programming.
I pay anywhere from $42-$45 a bottle for the 300's.
Where I worked before they were under $20 for the same size. They were under what is called "contract" price. That was Praxair tho. Airgas got kicked outa there for their stupid antics.

Single bedroom/bath houses with less space in Watts are going for 400K now.

$400K??? That is what the condos/townhouses were going for 11/2 years ago! Now they average $500,000. Condo in Waikiki in the new towers are going for $850,000 and up (I was on the window wall crew last year). If you are talking a single room and bathroom on it's own small piece of land, say 4,000sq. ft, that's probably around $600,000

Property values have gone through the roof everywhere. With the housing crash, I suspect things will start to come back in line.

Here in VA one 100' waterfront lot (undeveloped except for a pier) was assessed at $205,000 two years ago. Just got notice of the new assessment last week. New assessed value is $480,000. Something's not right with this picture.
