Default Ever seen one of these before?

Here'a a little project I made last week.
Its kind of different, and thought yawl might like to see it.

We had a safe move the other day to put two-- 54" tall, 4,000 pound vaults
through a office window that was only 60" high, and several stories up.

    No problem.
They removed the window, and slung the safe on the crane off the corner edge
so it would hang diagonally instead of upright, then up it went....

The ramp/frame hung over the 36" tall window sill,
so the lower edge of the vault could drag across it and not ding up the window sill.
As it came up past the window, the installers reached out into space,
grabed a rope on the bottom of the sling,
and pulled the safes inside as each one was lowered back down & inside at a angle.

As it came inside the building, it slid over the sill, then down the ramp.
Once inside, the safe could be stood up, and moved like normal.

    The thing worked real well-
Nobody got hurt, and everybody came home.

Yes, it always impresses me how easily something can be done IF the forces are all in the right direction. Now, does the company

    1) custom fab each window ramp, or are those pretty much used in any situation?

    2) the crane: are you talking "drive it up and park it in the street reach up 50 feet crane" or " some magic air hook crane"? Do you have any pictures of that part???

Thanks, I always enjoy learning how others do things.

It was built just for that window opening, used the one time,
and then set out for the scrap metal scroungers.
Its just once in a great while that we need something like that.

    Usually,
we can take the door off to lessen the weight enough to use the building's elevators.
It takes one elevator trip for the safe body, a 2nd trip for the door itself.
Or, with these newer buildings, when you take out the window-
it more or less is the entire wall, and we can come straight in.

We use the big (60 ton)cranes that drive down the road.
They block off the street, and go up the building from the sidewalk.

The instalers took a few pictures,
but I can't catch up with them to get a copy of 'em.
