Hey, you have a lot of experience with heavy equipment and hardfacing!!!
Over on the Big Island of Hawaii, there are 7 independantly mobile welders and they say there is more work for at least 7 more!!!
Very hot on that side of the island (Kona, westside) and a lot more expensive than Hilo (eastside). They get a lot of blue rock over there for building walls, so the blades and teeth on the machines always need repair! Minimum everyone charges over there is $70/hour

far as I heard, most of them used stick. I'm sure lot of 'em mig, but I was talking to the lincoln clerk at their store. I forgot the number of the hardfacing rod she said they used, but most of it was 7018, then the hardfacing rod for the coverpass.

Guys! Don't forget this is mobile rigs also! I heard most guys on Oahu charge around $40-$60/hr. Oahu is more populated, more competition. Shop charges between $60-$80/hr, but our rent is probably a lot higher than yours!
