Default Welding a sump to a gas tank....

Hey guys I need to weld a sump to the bottom of a gas tank for my car. I have a dynasty 200 and was wondering what type of rod would be good for this type of job? Thanks guys! By the way both pieces will be new so no fire hazard

Match the filler to the base metal. Aluminum, stainless, or carbon steel. It is that easy.

    I'd use ER70S2 1/16" with a 2% 1/16" Tungsten. Good luck!

haha, but seriously, if you have an aluminum tank get an aluminum sump (or make one) and weld as usual, steel use er70s-6

Then you would need to be an "expert" (that is if you stick with that combo!)

I'd use my 110 mig welder with .023 wire.

If looks are a little more important than do what Beebe Motorsports said silicon bronze tig filler.

I'd be iffy on soldering it unless the sump was crimped into the tank... but that's just me.
