A neighbor I was very fond of asked to borrow a very old farm tractor with loader. Many people don't understand these things aren't bulldozers. Minutes later I could hear in the distance, loud clanging. Boulders, (4' in diameter) were poking up through his lawn. He's getting a running start and hitting...

After these loaning experiences, I'm always pretty gun shy for a few years. It is almost always cheaper, and easier to do the job, than loan, then repair the machine. The repair is one I wouldn't have chosen a MIG to do.

  • Propane, and liquefied petroleum gas if I'm not mistaken, are two names for the same commodity. It depends on the diameter. The bigger the cylinder, the thicker the wall. I believe 100Lb tanks are spun in manufacture. Larger tanks are welded construction. 100 gallon tanks, (maybe 30" diameter)...

To me it is still a mystery. The borrower is a man I have immense respect for. He does all the welding for a four man family excavation company. He usually uses a Lincoln tombstone AC only welder. He produces welds I'm jealous of. The family is financially challenged, their equipment is mostly old....

I did a whole bunch of things. Pulled the liner out to inspect, it looks new. Replaced all the consumables in the gun, adjusted tension on the reel. I went into the menu and set everything except the push motor force.

Now it works good once again.

    Thanks for everybody's help....

Yes, I used the door chart from the welder. I'll call them and hope to straighten it out.

  • Were it mine, I'd take it out in the woods, open the valve and ignore it for a week first. I'd then shoot a hole at the bottom from a safe distance, and again ignore it for another week. Then the water thing is good. The odor will be overpowering for some time.

I rig some kind of fuse....

Whole box of parts arrived today. The nozzle adapter doesn't fit the tip adapter. Maybe I need an adapter adapter.

I will. I expect parts to arrive tomorrow. I'll put some effort into the problem when I have pieces. I'm usually not one to throw money at a mystery, but I felt I needed some of the little obscure parts that can leak shielding gas for a while. The welder has been a champion. I NEED it to work well again....
