  • Hobart 4943 wire on aluminum rims.

    I love this wire for aluminum rims. This rim was missing 3+ inches of the front edge. So I built it up with my MM185 and Spoolmate 185 and filed it to suit..Bob

    I though rims needed to be heat treated after repair .i may be wrong.

      Maybe. I have been doing them for 39 years. Just different wire and spool gun...Bob

        On the description it even says wheels. I used 4043 for years. Way more 4943 nowadays.

          Yes it does say wheels in the description from Hobart. I don't like it so much on 6061 but its perfect for wheels...Bob

            Yes, true.
            I thinks it's about the best cast rod I've used. Not nearly as easy to bend the built up and ground to size sections as 4043.
            We do use it on 6061 when we know that is what it is for sure. Generally we use 5356 on sheet goods and extrusions. But we mainly weld on 5052.
