New customer calls & needs a couple lintels welded up. 4" wide tubes onto 3/8"x 11" plates. I show up to meet the truck & I'm surprised at how much there is. All total 130 linear feet in various sizes. Tubes are 3/8" wall 4" x 16" & 4" x 8". Shortest one was 52", longest 16 ft. Luckily he has a skid steer & bought forks for it that arrived the day before. Stitch welded 3" on 12" centers as per plan.

    Are those for brick walls?

These are going in a concrete block building. They go above all the window & door openings for the block to sit on as they lay it. After I welded them up they got galvanized & delivered to the site. I just finished up today as I had to weld rebar on top sticking up & ties on the sides.

There must me some pretty serious loads on them.
Down here its all precast lintels, occasionally power steel which is a 3 sided sheet metal box that acts as a stay in place form and then poured when they pour the cells.

I guess those are for 12" walls and they are using 4" block on ea side of the lintel?

it is an odd design for sure.. I have welded up more lintels than I can count. generally, the lintel only has to hold up the triangle of block above the opening, corbeling will carry the weight of the roof if the wall is tall enough.

I've made up lintels out of 2X3 angle back to back on up to w24X128. I don't design 'em.. I just make what the drawings show...
