  • At The Track Dirt Bike Service Tray

If you are like me and ride dirt bikes than you are also like me and have to do minor repairs while at the track from time to time. The problem here is that some times you place the small bolts on top of the bike seat nice and safe. But when it comes time to reassemble the bolts are missing, knocked off and lost in the grass. The other issue is spary cans like chain lube, WD40, air filter oil and silicone don't balance well on the seat.
Today I decided to make a tray that will assist with 'At The Track Servicing"

With a section of tube and a biscuit cut from a round bar of weldable ali I clamped the two together and wire brushed them.

      Time for a test fit.
The only spray can I had at hand was this enlarged model.
The ones in my track box are normal height.
The can fits nicely into the holder.
I gave the holder a quick sand just for the photo.

With some 1.6mm or 1/16" ali tread plate I folded up a tray, welded the corners and ground the weld back square with the sides. I then filled it with water to test for leaks. No leaks after an hour so this tray if required can be used to catch an oil change.
I cleaned all the surfaces with some spirits and dabbed some silicone to the bottom of the spray can holder and positioned it in the tray.
I placed a heavey item on top and let it dry.

The service tray is ready for action this weekend. I will attach a system to quickly fix the tray to a bike while being serviced but for now the tray itself is finished.
