      My exact thoughts!

Who cares how fast it was going, and who cares how hard it hit. I'm just glad it fell so we can watch Bob do some mighty fine repairs on it. Dave

        Well Bob,
Hows it going? are you making any headway? Is it..."falling into place" as it should ? Is it going as "fast" as it should? hehehehe..

Its going great. Got the big dent out of the big 12" brass ball, just need to weld a small crack and little dent and repolish. I used to help a guy polish those big old phonograph brass horns 500 at a time so i know how to polish and have the equipment. Cut some new tabs from brass plate to braze on to the arms but i need to make 2 fixtures to hold them right then make a new rod to hold everything straight because the old one is bent...Bob

looks like progress. If you dont mind me asking, what will you be charging for this repair?

If the price is going to high, make sure you tell them the price really "fast" so that they dont have a chance to "fall" over...

I have the new rod threaded for the frame, the ball is round and welded. I needed to straighten the big fancy nut on the bottom but i figured i would just turn a new one on the lathe and weld the ring on to it so thats where i am today...Bob

                          Hi Bob,
                          Thats quite the fixture.
I hope the rehanging goes well. Any idea why it fell in the first place? other than someone tugging on it.

Did it let go from the device box?
did the box come out of the ceiling?

Just a little concern as to how it will be remounted so that this doesnt happen again.
When I install something that heavy and large I always add a safety cable and the box is bolted to the rafters with a strong 2x4 backing as well.
There are code rules for this type of installation.
Just a thought, Im sure your all over it.

Hey if it falls again, at least you'll know where to start!!!

                          the chandelier looks great Bob.

I donít want to seem out of line here, but is that price of $375 in line with what others would charge for that repair? It just seems to me that the people that own the thing just got the deal of the century. Had you not been able to repair it (I know I could mot machine new parts on a lathe for it like you did) they would be forced to shell out some serious jack to replace it. That or get in a time machine to get back to the early Ď80ís to pick another up 5k. Based on the dates of your post you got it around the end of OCT and now its one-month later and itís ready for delivery. Looks GREAT by the way, but I think you deserve a lot more money for your talent. I am new so I donít know what rates are to fix stuff like that, but it sure sounds low to me. Just how many hours did you end up putting in that repair?

PLEASE donít take offense to my post. I mean no disrespect, just curious.

You are right. I had way too much time for what i charged. But i like doing repairs like that. I know a lamp shop would have charged $3,000 easy. I prob had 20 hours total which should have been a thousand dollars but thats ok it will give me something to show my grand kids for the next 20 years. The electrician hanging it will prob charge more for the install job than i made and it better stay up this time...Bob
