Northern is my favorite catalog in the whole wide world, but there prices are usually higher than others, if you shop around.

I'm interested also in how good these are. I've been thinking for a while of getting one but didn't know anyone who had one. I would use it for lifting my skid in & out of my truck on occasion. I currently use a manual chain hoist & it gets old sometimes. Let us know how it is.

It is a little different over there for some reason. I just cannot quite put my finger on it tho
I wouldn't worry about it tho. maybe they simply never tried it.

SFT is the place for power tool advice tho. www.shopfloortalk.com I get so busy reading there I seldom post

I am using one similar. Its not a 1000lb model but none the less here is my setup.

I am using unistrut for the rail. The rail is rated for 1600lb. The rollers are rated at 400lbs each but you can get ones rated for 600lbs each.

Could you not find any more steel to build the mount? WOW what are you planning to move? From the looks I would guess that setup could be rated for at least 10k lb.

it looks like two pieces. One vertical stand with two swinging pin joints, and a arm. The pics look like at least 1/2" steel if not bigger.
