  • What's it worth?

I just saw an ad for a Miller 225 G, Welder, Generator, with an Onan motor. It has a little less than 1000 hours on it. What is a ballpark $ figure for something like this? Were they any good? It seems there was a thread on Onan engines and their shortcomings but I can't find it.
    Thanks

If it's in good shape appearance-wise and all it may be a really good addition to yer stable!
I don't know what year that a "G" is....mine is a "NT" and thats a '97. It is both CC & CV and I run tig and spoolgun off of it pluss it's an 8000 watt generator, In my mind if it has basically the same capabilities as mine with that few of hrs on it I'd give a grand without even batting an eye. (maybe more)

I believe the G stands for gas engine. Is there any other name such as bobcat, legend or trailblazer? I have an Onan on mine & no problems. If it is old replacement parts may be a problem.

225G is probably the Bobcat, probably the older Onan engine, the one being talked about all the time is actually a Robin OHV engine. The original onan is a flathead horizontally-opposed engine, I've run those for years never had a problem.

Your local Cummins engine dealer can get the parts, Cummins bought out Onan a number of years ago.

A friend of mine picked up a couple bobcat diesels last year at auction for $750 or so . . . had to buy about $250 worth of controls for each . . . He fixed himself, he's very happy with the results.

I found out the unit is a Bobcat 225G made in 1996. Although it has one problem the Onan engine idle sensor is not working. The unit will run at higher speed not slow idle. I canít call anyone today or tomorrow for prices so does anyone know how much this part should cost?
