      I'm noticing that the only thing the pictures show it sanding is dead tree carcass.

        I have one of those WEN sanders along with a Ryobi from Home Depot. both pretty much identical. They work fine for what they are: hobby use machines. Great for deburring small parts.

          I used this belt sander/grinder on 6061 aluminum stock that was 1x2x5 inches in size for about 1 hour today and didn't have any problems with the motor bogging down. Very easy to adjust the belt tension to keep the belt on the rollers. As others have said the table and safety guard aren't very sturdy, but for the cost of the product I can overlook this small "flaw." Definitely going to build a jig to hold my parts square.
