I have used mine a dozen times and have had zero problems. I may call on the services of Bob to help me out with the tip conversion one day. I think i remember it being said that the end where the tips screw in gets hot and distorts along with the tips. Not sure. I have not run really long beads at one time, maybe 6 to 8 inches at a time. Go for it........

Here is a tip to remember when using SS or steel wire in the spool gun. The drive roll groove will wear so keep a spare drive roll or have 2 sets to switch out between aluminum and steel. Because after some steel it won't feed aluminum wire at all. Learned the hard way...Bob

            spoolmate 100 series

got 3 sets of drive rolls:
            -stainless
            -steel
            -aluminum

i dont like mixing drive rolls for different materials!!
gives you also a better purity in materials,
do this with the bigger spool as well!

What gas will you use for the stainless?

                depending on utility
                -but usually tri-mix(Helium/argon/co2)

if not really critical i will use the c25 i mostly use for steel

                "really depend on application"
best way is tri-mix for stainless

Ok that's what I figured. Seems every time ss mig gets brought up, it quickly gets dismissed due to the cost and availability (lack) of tri mix. Do you have any pictures of work you have done with tri mix?
