I know I've seen something on this before but can't get the search to work for me.

Just checked the oil today and noticed it was a little low, have never had to add oil between changes before. Well I poped off the side panel and there was oil everywhere, apparently the rear crank seal is leaking, can't imagine what started it as it has always been dry as a bone and clean before. Couldn't be the cold weather could it? I've had it several years and never a problem before.

It has the Subaru eng. in it with about 1800 hrs on it.

My question for the experts is what is the best way to disassemble it to get to what I'm after? Pull the eng. off with the rotor attached or just what? Also how does the rotor attach to the eng. press, thread or what.

Been a diesel mechanic for 30 yrs but not up on these small engs.

Any help appreciated. Need to get my "baby" fixed. Already ordered the seal.

I've had my 302 tb with a kolher for 4 or 5 years and for some unknown reason the oil filter will loosen up just around 100 hours and start to leak oil. Good luck

Best to refill the unit and give it a good washing, just to verify that its is a crank seal, cause that would be EXTREMELY rare!!
