Hi. I am a blacksmith. Working on complex multi bend joints. twelve units must be exactly the same. I have to wrap a horizontal ¼" x 1" bar around a ⅝" round upright to the exactness of 1/32". I lined up the work and welded a section of the bar to the round. I then had to heat the extending 2" around the ⅝" round. Every time a hammer the bar the weld breaks. We do not have 220V in our shop yet…still under construction thus my Millermatic 211 is rated for 5/16" only. Is there a way to prepare the scarf (joint) to made this weld more secure until the wrapping process is complete? Thanks….I would like to solve this before I need psychiatric help.
