  • Millermatic 211 wire question

getting ready to purchase a new millermatic 211. somewhere i think i seen it can take a 4# or 8# spool of wire.
the LWS said it can take a 10# spool.
i would like to get the biggest spool i can, but dont want to order a 10# if it wont fit the unit.
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

The limit is the SPOOL diameter, which on the 211 is 8 inches. It's a bit confusing, because a lot of places don't tell you the spool size, only the weight.

Anything between about 8 to 12 pounds should be an 8" spool -

On my mm252, I just finished a 33 pound (12" spool" and found at the LWS that a 44 pound (STILL 12" spool) was noticeably cheaper per pound. It's just got a metal frame spool and more wire wound on it.

          HTH... Steve

I use Lincoln L-56 .030 wire and it is a 12.5 pound spool in my 211.
