  • I have a code number....

I can get a SA-200 with code number 8023. The face plate was replaced and does not have a serial number. I got the code from the barrel.
It's a first generation green light. The second generation green light has the warning face plate.
My '84 is a warning lable, it's code is 8791. My '80 is a first gen green light, with a code number of 8244.

So is there any way to find out what is the exact year of that SA-200 with code number 8023.
    Thank you,
    Good Luck,
    Bob

PS. The only SA-200 I don't have is the post Red Face, Black Face that goes untill the first gen green light. So say '71 untill maybe '79.

Do not know about the exact year... but the owners manual for code 8023 was published in 1993.. may be revision date.

Here is the link to the PDF

        Thanks guys, good information.
What I gleaned from all that is, Code 8023 predates my 1980 SA-200 by 1 code 8244.

I tried to figure how many codes per year and that came out at about 2, but not always true. Not all codes went in order.
8023 goes with the 8000 and below, and 8017 goes with 8200 and above.
So all I know now is it is close to a '80 year model.

sberry, the welder in that old post with the picture of you welding with that black face, looks like the first black face that came out after the red face years.
Rounded top corners on the face plate just like the red face.
What year is that welder? Or if you don't know the year, PM me with the serial number please.(first 3 if under 1 million, 4 if over, 1 million came in '83)

I had a large folder with all the information I learned about SA-200s over the years, turned up missing. My wife says she has never seen it.
        Good Luck,
        Bob

you could always get the engine serial# and email it to Wisconsin/Continental..

bet they could tell you when it was made...

likely just a bit before near the time the whole welder was built..

Certainly Not going to get you anywhere without a serial#. Guesstimate puts it anywhere between 1975 and 1980, but thats the furthest you'll get.

For sure if'in he had a serial# which he doesn't, and if it was made in the states NOT in Canada. It would be easy to find the date.
