    Yes. It's a esab that's why

you could always ask on the esab forum...

      Shoulda bought blue...

People forget that this is a Miller forum...

and just a small part of the extrordinary support they offer..

online manuals and phone in tech support are some additional parts...

not to mention an extrordinary user base that are willing to share their experience, skills and knowledge..of Miller equipment..

other companies like esab simply do not offer...

I would first check to make sure that the ground cable is in good condition so that you have a proper ground.

Beyond that, I would unplug the unit and pull the covers to look at the circuit boards for any burned components. Don't touch any capacitors.

You definitely need to get the manual. They have troubleshooting sections in all manuals that I've seen, at least for Miller and Lincoln.

Check for an ESAB forum. There will be more help available there.

        Good luck!

I looked on the ESAB North America site and could not find a help forum...

          http://www.esabna.com/us/en/support/index.cfm

I did find one for ESAB Egypt... no kidding..

          You hear all the time

“Well… I can buy Bla..Bla brand welder cheaper than Miller….”

          Maybe you can…

Part of the “savings” might be because labor is cheaper in BlaBlaLand….. but part of the value added in buying blue is all of the support and service resources that are available …for New or Used…

That becomes strikingly clear… when someone has a problem with some other brand and comes here for help because their manufacturer does not properly support it’s product..

Miller sets the bar very high… nobody else even comes close…

I feel sorry for your problems but proper support cost money and you get what you pay for..

Lincoln Electric Company products are not too bad.

I am sure not throwing any rocks at ecerna64 for asking here or anywhere...

any one of us would probably do the same thing ....

We get pretty spoiled here ... where we can get info just as easily for a 35 year old 330 AB-P as we can for a current model...

Did a little digging... was unable to find a manual for that ESAB 251 Migmaster...

but if my info is correct... it was a one year only model that had a lot of issues and was discontinued very quickly...so it might be a bit of an orphan

Hopefully Cruizer or somebody has more info...

I would call ESAB and see what they have to offer... maybe they can email you a PDF Tech manual...

Ok guys just thought some body had ran into a similar problem, Just happened to come accross this machine on a trade (cheap) I run Millers welders and know my way around fixing them pretty good. I guess I will add a big yellow piece to the scrap pile.

                Thank you all

There is some generic troubleshooting you could do...

is the contactor closing?? when you hit the trigger?

                  does it feed wire??

                  is there a jog switch??

fan running... lights on panel when power is turned on??

willing to help.. but we are kind of in the dark without any docs...

I not familiar with the machine but H8ON is on the right track. No arc out, okay, what does work? Do you have/or can get a schematic? Does anything light? Does it hum when the power is applied? Is it totally dead?---Meltedmetal

Have you verified the incoming power?
