  • CST 280 - Tig

I have a CST 280 and I use it for stick welding. I have a Miller mig welder that I use for light sheet medal. I want to use my CST 280 for tig welding. What torch and accessories do I need to buy? I have never tig welded.

Here's a couple of posting from weldingweb that will help.

Does the CST 280 have a gas solenoid in it? If it does, you dont need a tig torch with a gas valve on it. If there is no gas control solenoid in the CST 280, you need a tig torch with a gas valve on it.
Other then that, tig welding will be very easy with the CST 280. It is a lift start dc tig welder and will do a very good job. Tig welding stainless pipe would be sweet with this machine.

No gas solenoid valve on CST 280. Require gas valve torch.
Here's the CST 280 manual, see page 18 for tig
