  • Wekding Domex Steel

    guys,
got some new parts to weld at work. only have the blue print at this point. it doesnt call out for a specific welding process or filler / wire, but says weld per D1.1
its .250 thick 110 ksi Domex steel. i have never heard of this type of steel, but was told its some type of armor plate steel ?

the parts will be approx. 24" x 18" with some upright angles and gussets welded on.
so, my question is, can i MIG weld this type of steel, and if so, what type of wire is best for this steel ?

    thanks guys..

      domex

I use tri-mark metalloy 80d2 o45 wire with a c-10 gas mix on domex and have been for over 5 years now with great results. Domex is a ssab product out of Sweden. It is a unique steel as far as bending goes. It's high tensile steel but when folded over its self don't crack. Like t1 or hardox.I think you will like it
