  • how do you take apart a 14 pin connector?

I have a 12 RC feeder. The 14 pin connector pig tail is showing wear.
Now the wire feeder will start but the machine acts as though the contactor is not engaging. ie wire comes out but no spark.
I want to check the connections at the fitting but can't see how to take it apart.
I suspect it is the A B pins
    Thanks

The Amphenol connector screws together as either 2 or 3 parts, depending on if it is plastic or aluminum.

The rear cable clamp portion is what you will want to remove first.

It is plastic. I removed the clamp but the pin housing seems to be permanent to the external part. I will try to turn the pin housing. I see Miller sells this pig tail for about 60.00 bucks.

just check for continuity at the far ends of the connector in both machines. You can usually hear the contactor, if it clicks it is working, may have burned contacts though. Start at the power source with a VOM and look for DC volts, try switching the selector from dc + to DC- and recheck. What machine are you running it off of?

I just take the 2 rear screws out, then tighten the connector on the powersourse, then un screw the back end. It's usually a wire thats busted off. I just resolder it back on. There are pins and a pin pusher, but generally I can't be bothered...
