It would help if we new what your needs are such as Air arc, Jack hammer, Plazma, impacts, sand blasting, Etc.

I run the Ingersorand 30 gallon tank with a 13HP Honda, I operate everything mentioned above except a Jack hammer and operating a sandblaster is limited so I hook into the compressor on my other truck and use both compressors and I have steady air.

What ever compressor you look at, check the cfm. You want to make sure the advertised cfm is at 90psi or higher. Some company's say its 15 cfm but that's at zero psi and only like 8 cfm at 90psi.

Most plasma uses round 4-6 scfm@90 psi and your air tools( besides a sander) use round 3-4. You also need to think if you need portability or just in your garage. Gas powered comps are a bit more than elec power ones( a lot more really). CampbellHaus has a 60gal/230v at 10.2 @90 for $470ish and IR has a 8gal/gas at 11.8@90 for$999. This is at my Tractor Supply.
