  • Any negative effects from magnetic torch holder?

I was curious if the common magnetic base tig torch holder could actually cause any harm as far as welding goes, with its magnetic field messing with the torch itself? Is tungsten affected by magnetism? Or are there any steel parts in a tig torch handle that are magnetic? Just curious.
    Thanks,

Probably not going to inter fear but I would not stick it to the side of your machine

It will have no effect, no matter what. Even sticking to the power supply.

Steve is right, there will be no negative effects from magnetic torch holder.

I wouldn't be sticking it to my machine, just the welding bench top. I know magnetic fields within about 6 inches can cause stick and MIG welding arc issues but was more concerned with the tig torch and electrodes themselves. It's a pretty powerful magnet on one of those.
