  • Argon Regulator building pressure when not in use

Hello I have one of those 2 gauge argon smith regulators that come with the miller contractor kits.

When i'm off the pedal the flow gauge builds pressure where the needle completely wraps around. Hit the pedal and big blast of argon comes out, Needle holds steady at set flow while pedal is down then starts building while off.

    Why is this happening?

    thanks

The diaphram is starting to go bad. It is leaking from the high side to the low side. It's only a matter of time before you get no regulation, only tank pressure. Time for a rebuild.
