  • Miller or Lincoln engine drive.

    Hey guys what's up, so i'm thinking i might get another portable welder if i can get on a certain job in a few months, i have a TB302 now and i love it makes me look like i can weld Lol, but i'm thinking of getting a diesel was thinking either a pipepro350 or a vantage 300-400, now i'm a Miller guy so i'm really leaning towards the pp350, but i want to keep my options open has anybody used either of these machines or both is there anything that would make me pick one over the other good or bad, i'm not looking to start a miller lincoln war, need help thank's guy's..

    It's a toss up as both use the same technology, I'd go with the PP350 with the Mitsubishi engine, the Cat turbo, sounds powerfull, but in the real world not so much. Or the 325 is a fine mchine as well.

      I like the miller cabinet and controls better they just seem neater, the 325 only comes with a gas engine will there it come with a diesel in the near future??

        As far as engine drives in diesel config goes, the Lincoln classic 300D would be my first choice for code work performance.

          I'm a Lincoln fan and have the 400 Vantage and really like it but when it comes time to replace it I will be looking at the pipepro 350 because it is under 25HP so I'm thinking it shouldn't be affected by the new emission laws. I've welded beside the 350 and I don't think there is any difference between the two.

          I guess if you need 3 phase then go with the Lincoln. I think thats pretty much the only difference. The one I've been working beside has the Cat engine in it and it is quieter than the Perkins.

            Would a Pro 300 compare with a Vantage or pp350?

              No, no real comparison. The pp350/Vantage 300/400/500 use chopper technogy and are somewhat more technical to the pro 300

                Do you know if there will be a 325 diesel Cruizer? and why would you pick the Mitsubishi over the Cat?

                  Its possible, to have a Diesel 325 in the near future, As for the Mit compared to the Cat. The can turbo has no jam compared to the mit.

                    Is it worth the extra cost of a Diesel for 400-500 hours a year or just stick with a TB325???

                      Stick with the 325, Its a nice light wt machine that really cranks the juice!

                      Plus Diesel is simply a hassle for the most part, diesel costs more than Gas, if you have to lug it around, its hard on the springs, plus smelly and loud.

                          Same technology with the Ranger 305 and Miller 325, the 325 is much quieter, performs the same. I don't care for the EFI's yet in the 325's. But that is my only concern with them.

                          Its another 6 of one half dozen of the other senario. They both win in my books.
