  • Tig Cooler On or Off

We just added a tigmate 3 to and old syncrowave 250 at work. I was busy with another project when it came in and someone else installed it and hooked everything up. Yesterday was the first time I have tigged anything since. Well in a hurry and getting late in the day I flipped the welder power on, started to weld and burnt a hole in the hose. Everywere I have ever welded with a tig cooler on the welder, the cooler was left on and pluged into the switched outlet on the welder. The 250 has a switched outlet on it and the cooler is pluged into it. I have checked all the manuals and cannot find anything saying you can leave the cooler power on or not to. Which way should it be done?

Yes, leave the switch on the coolmate on. That way it activates automatically when you switch on the welder. Most all other coolers don't have a switch.

Helps to verify coolant flow every time you start up anyway. Put a piece of tape over the switch in on position.
    Nothing welded, Nothing gained

I thought so, I never saw a switch on one before this. Only makes since, why else would they put a switched outlet on the welder. Thanks

The switch is nice if your welder does not have a 115volt outlet. Never seen a water cooled mig welder outlets.

I've never seen a water cooled mig but while I was checking the books on the cooler it showed a water cooed mig setup.
