  • helium increase mig alum capacity?

    I know from reading different forums that if helium is used with a TIG instead of argon it increases capacity...

    Q-does the same apply to a MIG with spoolgun?

    Thats Helium and Argon mixed. so sure you'll get a hotter arc. However helium is freaking expensive and in short supply. Best have a real need and deep pockets.

    For Mig welding sure but again its a Helium / Argon mix

      If you are having trouble with contaminants or working on thick sections then it works great and is worth the price. I have seen this used most often on Alu. dump truck bodies.

        So it is a mix of Argon and Helium?

        I was under the impression that it was straight Helium!

        I do not yet have the need for this but am trying to learn from those that know

          As much as Praxair is a pain in my mind at least they have info. and the blends they talk about are available from most all LWS's. Read below:
