  • What gas mix do you guys use for spray mig welding >.375

    Myself and my 350P want to do some 1/2 inch steel and was wondering what mix is the one you currently use for spray on mild steel plate with .045 70s-6 wire? C10 C15 C20 ?

    98/2 thats 98% argon 2% oxygen

        Thats a spray gas mix, which is what you were after. Near spray with your machine cranked, you can try 85/15 15 being C02

            We use blueshield23 and are very satisfied with it. ar,co2,o2.

            What are your reasons for avoiding oxygen?

                I use C10 (90% Argon/10%CO2) for non pulsed spray. When you get up to 15% CO2, you're approaching a mix (generally around 18% CO2) that's likely to produce a globular transfer vs a true spray.

                The 98%Argon/2%O2 is a little hotter than the C10 and I'll use it infrequently, since my main mixer (Thermco) is set up for Ar/CO2.

                For pulsed spray I'll use a 95%Argon/5%CO2 mix or the 98%Argon/2%O2.
