  • choose the right welder

I have had an econo tig for sometime time now and have gotten pretty good with it. But Im torn between my next tig machine. I have looked at the synco 200 and 250dx along with the dynasty 200dx. I'm going to be doing mostly aluminum with it. Mostly things like sch 40 pipe and 1/4" plate but want enough power to do alittle more if needed. It won't be in a industrial setting but I'm pretty demanding on having enough power and don't want to buy something and turn around and not be happy or should of choosen another machine........need some help please.....have funds for any of the above set ups.

    Thanks Henry

I also say the synchrowave 250, Just make sure you realize that it will draw 100 amps.

I had the 250 synchro for 12 years and never had a problem with it and never felt that I needed more power.

3" to 4" 6061 Sch 40 pipe / or 1/4 wrought plate welds real nice with 250 amps and just tig torch preheat. If that is what you are going to welding more often than not, I'd go with the at least the 250. If you are welding smaller thickness on a regular basis, and have means to do some pre-heating, then something with less amps will suffice.

I agree, go for the 250.

Too bad there's such a GIANT price/amp gap between the Dynasty 200 and 350. There really needs to be either something in between, or leave it at two models but make the Dynasty 200 a 250 instead.
