  • wirefeed welding travel speed

Im doing a project for school and am trying to figure how much it would cost to make my project. I just need to know what you think is average wirfeed welding speed with .035 wire 250in/min @17.5 Volts

I'd guess your welding 14 gage material with C25. 030 wire would be a better choice.

Still I don't get your question as your answer is in your question. hmmmmm

I guess I could have worded it a little better. But I have roughly 256 inches of weld. Now how long will that take me to weld? So what is the average travel speed of someone wire feed welding. I have never timed myself welding so im not sure, especially cause I get into a zone and lose track of time. So in terms of inches a minute how fast does the average guy go. This doesnt need to be exact I just need a rough estimate.

No one can answer that, wayyyy too many variables, like the material and thickness your welding, machine your using. If your weaving, running straight, or stitching, corners, butt welds, in a shop or outdoors. even down to the input power on the machine.

            For a rough estimate

Click on the Mig Welding Calculator in the Top right corner.

            Example for 1/8" Steel
Wire Size & Wire Feed Speed:
            .035" (0.9 mm) at 280-300 ipm

            .045" (1.1 mm) at 140-150 ipm

            Shielding Gas & Voltage Range:
            CO2 21-22 Volts 75% Argon/25% CO2: 18-19 Volts
