Think about it for a minute. Pick any field of endeavor you are familiar with.

When ONE person, claims SOLE possession of THE REAL TRUTH, and every other company or individual in that large, mature field is stupid, wrong, and wasting millions of $$$......maybe it should send a large flag up.

Welding in the US, has been studied, time & motion studied, ndt tested, destructively tested, Xrayed, shook, cyclically tested, cost compared, efficiency tested, price tested, to the Nth degree. For over 100 years.

We went to the moon 45 years ago for crying out loud, built nuclear submarines, supersonic bombers, the safest high rise buildings, bridges, boilers, pipelines, tricycles, mountain bikes, top fuel dragsters, combines and tractors. The industry has a pretty decent handle on producing suitable welds for harsh service.

Yet, only this one obscure man has the real answer. Crying in the wilderness because multi billion $ companies just love to waste money, and won't listen to "him".

If dear old ed really was the sole human with "THE" answer, he would not have a website obnoxiously hawking his expertise, he'd be sipping lemonade on a veranda and trying to decide which of his ocean front houses he wanted to spend this summer in.

Yet, the vast welding world continues on. With really good end result.

I do always get a laugh out of your replies JT. I was almost up in Kingman the other day, but the trip got canceled at the last minute. We'll meet up one of these days.

So, I think JT pretty much nailed it. And in a way to get a good chuckle to boot.
The burning question in my mind after going to Mr. Ed's site several years ago, is "Why hasn't he fixed all the problems and got major rich in the process?"

Old or new, professional or hobbyist, there is validity in "Management" being the source of less than stellar performance or operations. I've seen it from the "white collar" side and really believe there are many "employees/technicians" that haven't gotten proper supervision, training or guidance because management has no clue what should be done or are way too cheap to funnel resources where needed. Too many get promoted to supervisory positions that don't deserve it and usually all below are cheated. I have seen people that are under-qualified or poorly skilled being hired because they pose no threat to their supervisor. It's a shame that this happens, but it is way too present.

To be very blunt, I think there is an epidemic of way too many companies being run by totally incompetent people and it is hurting this country and it's people who want to work, learn and perform at the top of their field.

Some of us, new to the forum, search and read these older topics and just feel compelled to respond!

Agreed, I've been much happier out of the corporate world, going on 11-years... It helps us as individuals and those we may provide services to, but the fundamental structure of the country is weakening at an alarming rate! Enough ranting...

Likewise. I always thought I was smarter than the boss, unfortunately the boss didn't always agree. Haven't had a real job since the mid 80's or so. I was fired plenty of times, and quit plenty of times, I should write a book, you all would die laughing.
                      Obviously, I'm just a hack-artist, you shouldn't be listening to anything I say .....

Yea, my last job, I learned so much of "what not to do" managing a manufacturing business, I thought of teaching it in MBA classes!
