We lived in the hills of the bay area for a while during my sub teen years...
(1959-63 in Woodside & Highlands Ca)

we built similar but much cruder "race-cars" hammered together from scrap lumber and baby buggy wheels.. with a broken sidemirror ftom my dad's 59 pontiac nailed on the back for a supersonic chrome tailfin...

no brakes... or wear out your keds....

the older kids would gather materials and build... us younger ones were the "test pilots"

many crashes and splills... how nobody got killed or broke bones I will never know..

skinned elbows and knees were a badge of honor..

that was back when little boys would bounce...

We used to do similar racing with red wagons. I can't see how anyone would want to sit & play video games when they could be doing something like this. Looks like a very cheap way to get kids & adults to get out & do something. Now I need to find a hill & build one.
