  • what do u guys use?

    just curios what do u guys use the most 4 making custom frames?

    cromemoly tubing
    mild steel box
    mild steel dom pipe
    alum?

    or any other material?

    Depends entirely on what the frame is for!

    Trailer: mild steel angle. GoKart: 4130 tube. And so on...

          id rather run mild dom for a street car. run 4130 if ya wanna race it

            I made a Lotus 7 frame (locost) out of 1" 16ga square tube.

            That's what the 'plans' call for.

                Couldn't find any completed pics, but only a few more bars and I was 'finished' with this one. I say finished, but I just made the basic structure and sold it on ebay. The new owner will have 10 times as much work to get a roadworthy car.

                A locost is a scratch built replica of a Lotus 7. They put all sorts of small engines in them, and the result is a light, fast, small car.
