I'm wanting to cut a couple of holes in my concrete floor and install some 2" receiver hitch tubes in them to be able to install and remove some portable stands. The problem is that there is a bit of play in 2" O.D. square tubing, and that play is accentuated the longer the inserted tube gets. Without cutting (and keeping) a much larger opening in the concrete to allow for the installation of some tightening bolts, does anybody have any ideas to accomplish this project?
Thanks in advance.

My customer just bought a used 953 Cat loader. Came as an open top with no rops. He wanted something to keep the rain off as well as any errant tree limbs etc. He picks & sells stone to the supply yards. It's not meant to replace the rops but just some protection mainly from the weather.

Main hoop is 3x3 tube & the rest is 2x2 tube with 1/8" sheet on top. All open tube ends were capped. I determined the height by measureing two other machines with cabs & they were about 5' 2" from the floor to inside of the roof. The roof overall is about 5' square. There were already pads on the machine to bolt it to so I just had to retap the holes as they had not been used in a long time. Painted with spray cans because if I didn't the owner most likely never would have.
I have some heavy duty skates from when I used to move bank equipment for a living so once I get it off the trailer I can move it around and jack it up, etc. I'm mostly worried about getting it off the trailer when I get it home.

It has threaded holes 3/8", spread in rows, like a dozen of them total. One edge is set up to be like a reference edge, a piece of 1/4" bar like 3" high, with adjustments for flushness, molded into the cast. The adjustments are molded, not the bar. What do I do with this? Leave it here? Put legs on it? I feel it's just too small to make it a primary table. But it's way better than the piece of 1/4" 6" by 8" I have been using as a contact point.<a href="http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/communities/mboard/attachment.php?attachmentid=32482&d=1368339212" title="Name: table0.jpg

I have been working on art using sliverware welding and getting great results.

Today I found a piece of thin sheet metal that I drew butterfly wings on , tin snipped them out, then I was going to tack them to a spark plug (for the body) I set my speed at 1, my amperage about 20-25 (anything lower I popped).. but at this amp I was burning through.. I got into a habit of 2 second bursts, is that maybe too long? Any ideas or is MIG not designed for this? I have Oxyacetylene but I don't really know how to use it-hubby bought it years ago and we both are way too uninformed about it and intimidated..

Thoughts?

Started this on Thursday afternoon & finished up on Friday. Cracked twice & welded by the companies mechanic (he's good but always rushed). This time he wanted me to do it. Right where the side plate meets the casting. Gouged it out completely so I had a 3/8" open gap to the inside. Snaked a piece of 1/4" bar inside with a rod tacked to it to hold onto. Pulled it tight up against the inside & tacked it good. Preheated, then welded it up.

Not really much to see. Basically like a weld test.
I already know i need 2 new axels and 4 tires and wheels along with new wiring and lights plus i wanna add a 4ft beaver tail with fold up ramps. Then add new paint and decking. Im thinking i may spend as much as if i just buy a new one all ready to go? Any thoughts will be much appreciated

I just try to do the welds on each pocket an even amount to keep it balanced. I haven't had a problem in the past. This time I had to build up inside the disc housing. I just went in as deep as I could reach. Next time we may have to pull the disc out.<a href="http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/communities/mboard/attachment.php?attachmentid=32315&d=1366970771" title="Name: 0423031302.jpg

I need to build a disel fuel tank that will go in the back of a polaris ranger 6x6 utv. I've got everything squared away except for the 2" threaded bungs for the transfer pump and filler/vent cap. Do you guys have a good source for these? I am going to build out of mild steel. Aluminum would be nice, but it won't last with how it is going to be used. It is too easy to pop a hole in it. For a drain port I am looking at just using a 3/4" pipe coupler and plug. Should end up around 90-100 gallons of usuable capacity.

Thanks.

I got sick and tired of having no place to put my torch when I am welding at home. Since I have a scratch-start unit (Miller Maxstar 150 STL) I have shy'd away from just placing the torch on the top of my work bench. It either slides off or somehow flips around, electrode side down and all of the sudden everything is arcing out. Here is my solution. Its made out of 3/16" stainless rod and slides easily over the edge of my work bench which is 1/4" plate. Now I dont have to worry about anything and its out of the way
